The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its national convention on May 9, 2026, as it prepares for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. Primary elections are set to begin on May 22, 2026.
In a letter dated April 15, 2026, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the party shared a revised election timetable. It was signed by Chairman Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe and Secretary Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
Party congresses will start on May 1 with ward-level meetings nationwide. These include polling unit and community gatherings.
Local government congresses will follow on May 2, state congresses on May 4, and zonal congresses on May 6. The national convention on May 9 will elect party officials.
The NDC has asked INEC to monitor all stages. It says the process will follow democratic standards and ensure transparency.
