Former presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Senator Seriake Dickson have arrived for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The meeting brings together prominent political figures as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
According to the party’s programme, the meeting will be followed by the inauguration of its National Campaign Council and the opening of its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja.
The NDC also plans to present Certificates of Return to its candidates contesting presidential, governorship and legislative elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the programme would include the presentation of the party’s financial statement as part of efforts to promote transparency.
Director also claimed that economic hardship had prevented about 80 per cent of the party’s candidates from affording nomination forms, prompting the party to provide them free of charge.
The activities form part of the NDC’s preparations to organise its candidates and supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
