Kwankwaso working for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 — Dawakin Tofa

Kwankwaso backing Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid — Dawakin Tofa claims Kwankwaso backing Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid — Dawakin Tofa claims
Dawakin Tofa says Kwankwaso secretly supported Tinubu and APC interests ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, has alleged that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is indirectly working toward the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dawakin Tofa made the allegation on Wednesday during an appearance on the Arise News morning programme, where he spoke on political developments in Kano and across the country.

He said he was a member of the Kwankwasiyya movement and understood how Kwankwaso worked behind the scenes for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 elections while he was in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

According to him, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had approached President Tinubu over a possible defection to the APC with Kwankwaso’s approval.

He further claimed that the planned defection initially had Kwankwaso’s full backing before the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement later withdrew his support.

Dawakin Tofa also stated that Peter Obi, a presidential aspirant under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), may face political challenges in Kano due to what he described as the state’s conservative political structure.

He argued that political acceptance in Kano is often influenced by long-standing ideological and regional considerations, which could shape voter behaviour ahead of the 2027 elections.
