No terrorist camps in Southwest Nigeria — Defence Headquarters No terrorist camps in Southwest Nigeria — Defence Headquarters

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has stated that there are no established terrorist camps or operational bases in the country’s Southwest region.

Security officials said that although there have been reports about attempts by criminal or extremist groups to infiltrate the area, security agencies are closely monitoring the situation and taking proactive steps to prevent any threat from escalating.

According to the Defence Headquarters, the military and other security agencies have intensified patrols and intelligence operations, particularly in areas where criminal elements are suspected to be seeking hideouts.

The authorities stressed that attacks occurring in other parts of the country do not mean terrorist groups have established a presence in Southwest Nigeria, adding that security forces continue to record successes in disrupting potential threats.

Citizens were urged to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities, as timely intelligence can help prevent criminal groups from gaining a foothold or carrying out operations.

The report also noted that the Nigerian military continues to conduct operations against armed gangs and insurgent groups in various parts of the country.
