Meanwhile, Kano State has confirmed two deaths linked to the outbreak, prompting the state government to establish a special committee to investigate the cases and coordinate measures to contain the disease, particularly in Rano Local Government Area.
The development has renewed calls for increased public health vigilance, early detection and treatment, as well as vaccination against diphtheria. Health officials are expected to strengthen contact tracing and community awareness efforts to prevent the outbreak from spreading further.
