The African Union has strongly condemned the killing of more than 50 people in Zamfara State following a brutal attack by armed bandits.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, denounced what he described as a heinous assault carried out on Saturday in Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, located in Anka Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the attackers killed over 50 civilians and abducted several women and children during coordinated raids on communities in the area.
Youssouf reaffirmed the Union’s full solidarity with the Government and people of Nigeria, extending heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
The condemnation adds to growing calls for stronger security measures to address escalating violence in parts of northern Nigeria.
