A late-night attack has left three soldiers and a civilian woman dead in Garaha district, Adamawa State, following what authorities suspect to be a reprisal assault by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to reports from the community, heavily armed attackers stormed Garaha at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Witnesses say the insurgents advanced from multiple directions, firing sporadically to create panic before overwhelming a nearby military formation.
Survivors described the assault as highly coordinated.
The attackers reportedly caught security personnel off guard, overpowering them before setting key structures ablaze including a primary school.
In the aftermath, the insurgents allegedly looted weapons from the military camp and seized an armoured vehicle before torching the facility.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Inuwa, urged both federal and state authorities to implement stronger security strategies to restore lasting peace and stability to the region.
The attack has heightened concerns about persistent insecurity in parts of northeastern Nigeria.
