The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has questioned the Federal Government over what it described as a significant disparity in the allocation of funds for church and mosque-related projects in the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

The group called for transparency and equal treatment in the distribution of public funds.

According to the association, the budget earmarked about ₦1.91 billion for seven church-related projects, while ₦6.14 billion was allocated to 52 mosque-related projects, bringing the total religious projects allocation to ₦8.05 billion.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, the NCA stressed that it was not opposed to government support for religious projects but insisted that such funding must be guided by fairness, justice, and the constitutional principle of equal treatment for all citizens regardless of faith.

The association urged the Federal Government to publicly explain the basis for the funding disparity, warning that perceived inequality in governance could deepen division and erode national unity. It maintained that all Nigerians deserve equal consideration under the law.
