ICPC arraigns El-Rufai’s personal Doctor over alleged false medical report

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed criminal charges against Professor Bello Abubakar, the personal physician of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The anti-graft agency accused the doctor of making false statements and submitting misleading medical information during an investigation involving the former governor.

According to the charge filed before the court, the ICPC alleged that Professor Abubakar provided inaccurate information regarding El-Rufai’s medical condition and hospital visit, which the commission believes was intended to obstruct its investigation. The doctor had earlier been arrested following the disputed medical consultation.

The development is the latest twist in the ongoing legal battle involving El-Rufai, who is facing criminal charges before the Kaduna State High Court.

The ICPC has maintained that the former governor breached conditions attached to a court-approved medical visit, while El-Rufai has denied the allegations and accused the commission of misrepresenting the facts.

The criminal case against Professor Abubakar is expected to proceed in court, where the ICPC will present evidence to support its allegations. The outcome of the trial could have implications for the broader legal proceedings involving the former Kaduna governor.
