The 38 worshippers abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained their freedom, the state government has announced.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed their release on Sunday, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as the President’s “direct initiative” in securing the safe return of the victims.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said President Tinubu personally coordinated efforts to free the abductees.
According to the statement, the President also ordered increased security deployments to Kwara State following recent breaches in both Kwara and Kebbi, underscoring what the governor called Tinubu’s firm commitment to the safety of Nigerians.
Governor AbdulRazaq further thanked the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four additional tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive.
He also commended the security forces, traditional and religious leaders, and residents of Kwara State for their support and solidarity throughout the incident.
