Senegalese football star Sadio Mané has met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to discuss his $19.5 million agricultural project aimed at reducing post-harvest fruit losses in Senegal.
The SM10 Agro Project, launched in Mané’s hometown of Bambali in the southern Sédhiou region, focuses on mango production, sorting and processing.
The initiative aims to improve fruit preservation, support local farmers and strengthen Senegal’s agricultural value chain.
The project’s processing facilities are expected to run entirely on solar power, promoting renewable energy use in agricultural production.
Once operational, the project is projected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs for local residents, providing new economic opportunities in southern Senegal.
