Nigerian troops have rescued 23 kidnapped civilians and arrested four suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group during separate operations in Sokoto State, northwestern Nigeria.
The Joint Task Force spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops rescued six victims after repelling an attack on Sabon Gari community in Wurno Local Government Area.
In another operation along the Isa–Kwanar Isa–Shinkafi Road, troops engaged suspected terrorists and rescued 17 civilians. One victim, who sustained a fracture, was taken to General Hospital, Isa, for treatment.
Troops also confronted suspected terrorists along the Sabon Birni–Takatsaba Road, forcing them to retreat. Four suspected Lakurawa members were arrested in Illela Local Government Area, where six allegedly stolen cows were recovered.
The military said the suspects and recovered livestock remain in custody as investigations continue. It reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting terrorist activities and protecting communities across the region.
