The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has recorded a landslide victory in the Bauchi State local government elections, winning all 20 chairmanship seats contested across the state.

The results were announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) after the completion of voting and collation.

APM also dominated the councillorship elections, winning 319 out of the 323 seats contested across the 20 local government areas. Only four councillorship seats went to other political parties, underscoring the scale of APM’s victory in the poll.

BASIEC Chairperson, Jummai Abubakar, declared the results and confirmed the victory of the APM candidates in all the local government areas. Some of the winners recorded significant margins, including Umar Mohammed in Bauchi LGA, Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo in Toro and Bappah Aliyu in Alkaleri.

The election was conducted amid a boycott by some opposition parties, which had raised concerns about the process. Despite the boycott, the state government and electoral authorities described the exercise as peaceful, while the outcome has further strengthened APM’s position in Bauchi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
