The family of Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac of the Nigerian Army, who was recently killed during a kidnapping rescue operation in Oyo State, says it is still struggling to come to terms with his untimely death.
According to the family, the late officer was their breadwinner.
The 28-year-old officer lost his life on July 10, 2026, while leading troops in a successful operation that rescued teachers and pupils abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In an exclusive interview with Explorer English, the father of the slain officer, Isaac Alabura, a retired Master Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Army, described his son’s death as devastating.
He said the family is demanding a comprehensive account of the circumstances surrounding their son’s death during the rescue operation.
Alabura also appealed to the military authorities and the Oyo State Government to support the bereaved family and immortalise his son in recognition of the ultimate sacrifice he made in service to the nation.
The retired soldier further made an emotional appeal to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to come to the family’s aid.
He said his late son was the family’s breadwinner and that his death has left an irreplaceable void.
He urged Governor Fintiri to engage with his Oyo State counterpart to ensure that the bereaved family receives the support it deserves.
Alabura stressed that no amount of assistance could replace his son, but expressed hope that the Adamawa State Government would stand by the family during this difficult period and honour the memory of a young officer who died in the line of duty while rescuing innocent lives.
