Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has indicated his intention to run for president in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party.

Jonathan made the remark on Monday while responding to former vice president Atiku Abubakar amid ongoing debate over Nigeria’s 2027 political landscape.

He acknowledged that his administration made mistakes while in office but said he did everything possible at the time to address the country’s challenges.

His possible return to the race has continued to generate debate, particularly over his eligibility to contest again, as a related court case began hearing on Monday.

Meanwhile, internal tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party persist, with a faction linked to Federal Capital Territory minister Nyesom Wike reportedly moving to close the sale of nomination forms, while the party’s national caretaker committee led by Kabiru Turaki has set May 13 as the deadline.
