Yoweri Museveni has been sworn in for a seventh term as President of Uganda, extending his decades-long rule.

Museveni, one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, was declared the winner of the January election, which was widely disputed and marred by allegations of fraud.

More than 30 African leaders and other high-profile guests attended the inauguration ceremony held in Kampala, the country’s capital.

Museveni took the oath of office before thousands of supporters, further cementing his position among the continent’s longest-ruling leaders.

Opposition parties boycotted the event, saying their attendance would be seen as legitimising an election they consider controversial.
