The All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
The announcement came during the party’s state congress on Tuesday, which also elected new leadership to oversee party affairs.
The endorsement motion was led by House Chief Whip Usman Bello Kumo and seconded by Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency representative Abdullahi El-Rasheed, receiving overwhelming support from party members.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya described the move as recognition of Tinubu’s leadership amid Nigeria’s economic and governance challenges.
Highlighting the party’s strength, he noted that Gombe APC recorded over 400,000 registered members ranking 10th nationwide and emphasized the chapter’s unity as vital for winning the 2027 election.
The governor also praised the APC national leadership, including National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, for promoting internal democracy, and commended the Congress Committee for a peaceful, transparent, and credible process.
Dr. Danjuma Adamu Dabo, chairman of the Gombe APC Congress Committee, confirmed that all consensus candidates were screened by the national committee, with no objections to the process.
