Security operatives have been searching for the missing students

The Nigerian government has condemned Sunday night’s attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, where bandits killed the Vice-Principal and abducted 25 students.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said President Bola Tinubu has directed security and intelligence agencies to urgently locate the missing girls, rescue them safely, and bring the perpetrators to justice. He said the government shares in the grief of the affected families and stands in solidarity with the Kebbi community.

The Minister quoted President Tinubu as reaffirming that the protection of every Nigerian especially schoolchildren remains a core obligation of the State. “The government condemns this reprehensible attack on innocent students and the killing of school officials carrying out their noble duty,” Idris said.

According to him, security agencies have been given “clear and decisive” instructions to track the attackers and prevent further assaults on schools. He added that the Federal Government is strengthening internal security by recalibrating the nation’s military, policing, and intelligence systems to better anticipate threats and respond with speed.

The government also reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ending school abductions and restoring safety across vulnerable communities.
