Iran says it will establish a new restricted maritime zone near the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days, amid escalating tensions with the United States.
Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei said vessels entering the designated area without coordination with Tehran could be placed on Iran’s sanctions list.
Rezaei also announced that Iran and Oman are expected to unveil a new shipping corridor through the strategic waterway.
