Nigeria and Ghana join forces to combat rising drug trafficking threats in West Africa.

Nigeria and Ghana have strengthened their partnership in the fight against drug trafficking, signaling a united front against organized crime in West Africa.

A Ghanaian delegation led by Maxwell Obuba Mantey visited Nigeria to study the operational model of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and explore deeper collaboration.

During the visit, NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa emphasized that closer cooperation in intelligence sharing, interdiction strategies, and digital forensics would significantly disrupt illicit drug networks across the region.

A key outcome was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NDLEA and Narcotics Control Commission, aimed at tackling the production of synthetic drugs, precursor chemicals, and related money laundering activities.

Both countries highlighted the growing complexity of drug trafficking including maritime smuggling routes and synthetic substances and agreed that stronger regional coordination is essential to curb the evolving threat.
