At least 16 people have been killed in coordinated attacks across northern Nigeria, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.

In Katsina State, armed bandits launched a reprisal attack on Sunday in Kankia Local Government Area, targeting the villages of Jeka da Kolo and Kwalgoro. Police say 11 people were shot dead before security forces intervened and repelled the attackers.

Authorities believe the assault may be linked to recent security operations against bandit groups in the area. Police have since intensified search efforts, including bush-combing operations and coordinated patrols, to track down those responsible.

Meanwhile, a separate attack in Plateau State claimed additional lives in the Fan District of Barkin Ladi, further underscoring the spread of violence across multiple regions.

Security officials have condemned the attacks and urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with authorities, and report suspicious activity as efforts continue to restore stability and bring perpetrators to justice.
