A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned hearing on the bail application of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to March 31, 2026.
The decision followed Tuesday’s proceedings, where both the prosecution and defence presented their arguments before the court.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant bail, citing his client’s constitutional rights and the need for adequate time to prepare his defence.
However, the prosecution opposed the request, arguing that the charges against El-Rufai are serious and that granting bail could hinder ongoing investigations.
El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
The commission accused the former governor of financial misconduct during his time in office.
