Nigerian Army troops and police operatives have killed several suspected terrorists during a joint operation in Gumki Forest, Kangiwa, Kebbi State.
The operation was carried out early Monday as security forces intensified efforts to dismantle armed groups operating in the area.
Kebbi State Police spokesperson Bashir Usman said the forces recovered a PKT rifle with 174 rounds of ammunition and an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds.
Military camouflage, boots, two mobile phones, charms and four motorcycles were also recovered during the operation.
Police Commissioner Umar Hadejia praised the security forces and said intelligence-led operations against terrorism and banditry would continue. He urged residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies.
