Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 33-year-old woman, Hauwa’u Haruna, over the alleged killing of her 43-year-old co-wife, Jamila Adamu, at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate.
Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:05 p.m. following a domestic incident involving the two women, who lived in the same household.
According to preliminary police findings, Haruna allegedly struck Adamu on the forehead with a pestle. Police said the victim was taken to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor confirmed her death.
The deceased’s body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue. Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
