Kenyan President William Ruto has described the Dangote Refinery in Lagos as a “masterpiece of science, engineering and art” following a tour of the facility.
Ruto visited the 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery on Friday after attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Kenyan president also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to working with the Dangote Group on a proposed oil refinery and petrochemical complex in East Africa.
The proposed facility, expected to be located in Lamu, Kenya, is estimated to cost $17 billion.
Ruto said the planned partnership forms part of efforts to strengthen Kenya’s energy and industrial development.
