The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned until October 13, 2026, to hear an application by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress seeking to amend their suit against President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, is before Justice Inyang Ekwo. At Monday’s proceedings, counsel for Atiku and the ADC said the defendants had been served with court processes and that the plaintiffs had responded to processes received from them.
The case challenges Tinubu’s eligibility to contest the 2027 presidential election over allegations by Atiku and the ADC concerning an NYSC discharge certificate submitted to INEC. Tinubu and the APC have denied the allegation and asked the court to dismiss the suit.
The proceedings had previously been delayed by a dispute over service of court documents on Tinubu. The court later permitted the plaintiffs to serve the President through the APC.
Justice Ekwo fixed October 13 for the hearing of the plaintiffs’ motion to amend the originating summons, allowing the parties to regularise their court processes.
