Kano govt under fire for allegedly withdrawing hajj slots from NNPP members

Kano Kano
The party urged the state government to respect democratic principles

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has accused the state government of conducting a political witch-hunt against its members.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, the NNPP said recent government actions are politically motivated, undemocratic, and aimed at intimidating party loyalists.

The party alleged that the state administration, which it said was originally formed on the NNPP platform before breaking away, had begun withdrawing Hajj slots previously allocated to some of its members, including former commissioners, advisers, and party leaders.

Karaye insisted that the affected individuals, as citizens of Kano State, are entitled to such privileges and should not be penalized because of political affiliations.

The NNPP also accused the government of harassing former office holders by demanding the return of official vehicles allocated to them during their tenure, arguing that these vehicles form part of their consolidated benefits and should not be used as tools for political retaliation.

The party urged the state government to respect democratic principles, warning that actions like these could undermine political tolerance and decorum in Kano State.
