The United States government has imposed sanctions on eight Nigerians over alleged links to the insurgent group Boko Haram and other related cybercrime activities.

The action was announced on February 10, 2026, in a 3,000-page document released by the U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control in Washington.

The agency said the individuals were designated for their suspected involvement in terrorism related activities and cyber-enabled financial crimes.

Among those named is Salih Yusuf Adamu, also known as Salihu Yusuf.

Some of the individuals were also listed for alleged connections to networks linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

The US government says the measures are part of broader efforts to disrupt terrorism financing, weaken extremist networks, and combat transnational cybercrime.

Boko Haram was designated a foreign terrorist organisation by Washington in 2013, and US authorities say they continue to monitor and sanction individuals and groups believed to support such organisations.
